Who should receive Luton’s Red Roses on Valentine’s Day?

The people of Luton will decide which twelve star personalities should receive a dozen, long stem, red roses from the town on Valentine’s Day, February 14th 2007. They have been invited to cast their votes for their chosen celebrities – six women and six men – at the www.loveluton.com web site.

This will be the second year of the project which is organised by the town’s promotional consortium Luton First – supported by the University of Bedfordshire, ‘The Mall’ Arndale Centre, London Luton Airport, Whitbread, Vauxhall and other organisations including Luton Borough Council. It is designed to focus national media attention on Luton as a town with a romantic soul.

Last year’s promotional project was a huge success with major national television coverage, along with radio interviews across the country and press exposure in the national and major provincial press.

Previous winners of Luton’s dozen red roses included top TV duos ‘Des and Mel’ and ‘Richard and Judy’, while other winners were BBC Radio 2’s Steve Wright, BBC Radio 1’s Chris Moyles, Liz Hurley, Anne Robinson and Will Young. Flowers were sent via Interflora from local florist Jeans of Luton.

“Our report on the recollections of old Lutonians who no longer live in Luton clearly indicated that they remembered the town as a romantic place, where many of them met their future partners and fell in love,” says Patricia Murchie of Luton First. “This project is about romantic Luton and will turn the media spotlight on some very famous faces receiving red roses from the town on Valentine’s Day.”

The only proviso is that the ‘stars’ and celebrities nominated live in the UK so that they will be available to be photographed with their special Valentine’s Day roses.

Log on today to www.loveluton.com and nominate a well known personality.
