"I've lived in Luton since 1978 and seen a lot of changes in that time. The refurbishment of the Arndale Centre, for example, was a big success. The Centre itself is now so much lighter and brighter, so it’s a pleasure to walk there through town.

‘Mind you, walking round town and just being part of the crowd is great in itself. Strolling through a busy shopping centre surrounded by people from all over the world is a tremendous experience.

‘Luton’s diversity has had a real impact on the town centre too. The outdoor markets are fun – the French visiting market in Market Hill is always enjoyable, and the stalls selling samosas and German sausages in the pedestrian precinct on Saturdays are good places to visit after a shopping expedition. The Chinese supermarket in Union Street is something of a treasure trove too."
