"I've lived in Luton since 1978 and seen a lot of changes in
that time. The refurbishment of the Arndale Centre, for example, was a
big success. The Centre itself is now so much lighter and brighter, so
its a pleasure to walk there through town.
Mind you, walking round town and just being part of the crowd is
great in itself. Strolling through a busy shopping centre surrounded by
people from all over the world is a tremendous experience.
Lutons diversity has had a real impact on the town centre
too. The outdoor markets are fun the French visiting market in
Market Hill is always enjoyable, and the stalls selling samosas and German
sausages in the pedestrian precinct on Saturdays are good places to visit
after a shopping expedition. The Chinese supermarket in Union Street is
something of a treasure trove too."
